I have had this blender/food processor for over four years now and I love it! It is very practical to have two machines in one and it takes care of both jobs very well. I have used it for homemade baby food, daily smoothies, milkshakes, making hashbrowns, and on and on.

I am so happy I ordered this blender. This is my 3rd blender in 2 years so I researched it a lot before I purchased this one. For the last 2, I just purchased the cheapest one. One of them had a glass jar and it broke. Having experienced that, I was determined not to buy one with a glass jar (very few available). Finally, after the second one started smoking, I looked for one that made better smoothies since it seems that's mainly what I use it for. This blender puts the other 2 to shame. I looked at all of the machines listed on Amazon. I read the reviews. The Waring appeared to be the best though I worried a bit about the pretty plastic motor cover. It almost fakes chrome steel, and now I know why! I use hard frozen ice cream and like my malts thick. My machine may be "faulty" but it overheated and quit the third time I used it. I live in a small space and wanted a smaller food processor and a blender and this seemed to be a great solution. In principle it is a really good idea but the manufacturer should have included hearing protection. I use my earplugs when I use this machine. It's as loud as a skill saw. The blender design is such that there are always chunks in my smoothies. I can't make a full recipe of meatloaf in the processor.

I got this blender two weeks ago and have been using it to make milkshakes. It works very well, but sometimes you need to blend twice to make sure all the fruit lumps have moved around and been blended. These plastic jars just don't last. I don't know how this even qualifies as a viable product. We have to replace ours every several months. We don't do anything abnormal with it. Smoothies mainly, and we use our icemaker to pre-crush the ice for it (since we know it's so sensitive). It doesn't take long for cracks to appear, and then come the sticky leaks that get all over the blender and the counter. And, it's so expensive. Unfortunately, our blender (the KSB-580, which is similar to the 560, I think) doesn't take the standard glass jar. Big mistake on our part. This will probably sound shallow to the blender connoisseurs out there, but after reading the reviews comparing and contrasting Blendtec with Vitamix (its main rival), I chose the Blendtec in the end because I couldn't stand the idea of paying a fortune for the Vitamix that is (in my opinion) really unattractive :). The Blendtec, on the other hand, is fantastically sharp-looking on the counter. I use it daily and it performs like a dream. It is goof-proof. Decide what you want it to do and push the corresponding button. It turns itself off when it's done, and counts down the seconds digitally while it's working.

I use it almost solely for smoothies and it is every bit as good as the Vitamix that I borrowed from a friend for several weeks when I was test-driving these (expensive) machines. When you're spending so much cash on a kitchen appliance, you don't want buyer's remorse. I was thrilled to discover the Blendtec right before I was about to plunk down $500 for a Vitamix.

Another perhaps shallow reason I chose Blendtec over Vitamix is that the Vitamix is too tall to rest under my upper cabinets, whereas the Blendtec is just the right height. But if you think about it, this is not a trivial difference, because one is much more likely to use a machine that doesn't have to dragged out of hiding.

In my situation, the decision to get rid of my perfectly operable and nearly-new Cuisinart and to pay so much for the Blendtec was a matter of health. I have a young husband with stage IV cancer and I thought it was imperative to have a top-notch machine to make healthful smoothies and shakes into which I could add supplements like protein powders and extra vitamins and minerals. The Cuisinart, while a nice machine, just couldn't touch what the Blendtec does, which is make smooth as silk drinks without any grit or unblended material at the bottom.

I bought this thing ten years ago. I use it on a regular basis to make protein shakes (frozen fruit and ice cubes included). We use it a lot - mainly for smoothies and blended fruit drinks, but we've also made iced coffee, which involves crushing ice, and I frequently blend pancake batter to make it smoother. I bought this for the kids, who love making smoothies. I was really impressed with the power, and it does a wonderful job. And, with the pouring spout, each child can serve him or herself with no mess at all. I love it. This blender works fine for making smoothies, if you run it long enough. However the bowl is very difficult to take apart - there's no place to get a good grip to unscrew it. The labels on the buttons ("on" "off") have worn off after a year. And sometimes on the "ice crush" mode, it simply unscrews the bowl instead of sucking down the ice! I see alot of bad reviews and am puzzled by them. I am a bartender and have used most of the commercial product used in bars so I know how to mix them just right after 13 years doing. I think most of the bad reviews come from the fact that the directions are not very helpful with recopies. The drinks I mix come out very creamy and smooth, just about as good as an Oasis machine. The problem people are having with the margaritas is that after you put in the sour mix and alcohol it will dilute the ice significantly. I start with ice to the fill line, about 24 ounces of margarita mix and 1/12 half cups teq. Blend for about 5 min and add about two more cups of ice then blend it for 5 more min. They sold come out thick and smooth with hardly any ice crystal, The extra ice keeps the mix cold thick. The other day, I was blending for a pie and trying to make sure the lid was on snug, so I wouldn't throw pumpkin all over the walls. My thumb touched the plastic cap in the center and it fell in, ground up and got little minced plastic cap all in my pie mix.

I don't why, but I was expecting amazing things out of this machine. While it does blend with the best, well, in the end, it is just a blender. I have a Cuisinart CBT-500 that is not far behind in performance (although it is ear splitting loud). Plus, the RPM meter of mine never reached 20,000. For the price, I am not all that impressed.
