Great so far! I make Hot Pepper sauce every year and needed something with enough power to be able to grind up the pepper skins and make the sauce very smooth. Even my Cuisinart food processor has trouble with this task, plus it would leak hot sauce everywhere. Just got this and tried it on 2 different tasks. 1) I made a blended ice drink that was so thick it wouldn't pour! 2) I used it to grind some of my leftover pepper skins and vinegar. It worked very well but didn't grind up the seeds. Probably asking for too much there. Seems like it really has 550 watts.

I was nervous about buying a brand with no reviews, however I checked out their website and they have a 15 month warranty and their other products got good reviews. All the labels on it are in spanish with a small user guide in english. I compared it to the $100 Kitchenaid and I like this one better, especially at only $40. This product can not handle anything more than powder and even that it doesn't do well. I made a powder shake and 2 shakes with frozen fruit and it is no longer workable. The plastic piece on the bottom spins but no longer spins the blade. It's like a stripped screw.

Just bought this blender based on the review in Cooks Illustrated. So far I'm very happy with it. My wife NEVER has enough foam/froth when she makes her Chai Lattes.
We bought and Aeroccinco and it never made enough.
She would have to make 3 batches of foam to get enough to top off her mug.

We found this unit and she is THRILLED. The foam/froth is thick and plentiful! It is so thick it is almost like whipped cream.

Some reviewers mentioned that the the unit was noisy, but we didn't find it to be unreasonably loud - its similar to the sound of a blender.

As for the comments about clean up - we found it relatively easy. However, the milk does tend get scalded and stick to the heating element inside the carafe so you have to use a brush or firm sponge to remove the residue.

We were skeptical when we bought this. But from the first round of frozen mixed drinks that we made, we were converts. They come out awesome. No more cheap-tasting, over-powering drink mixes loaded with corn syrup and artificial flavors. With a little research and experimentation, we've figured out great recipes for a bunch of different drinks, using fresh fruit and/or fruit juices, plus modest amounts of agave as a sweetener when called for. Time and again our guests have raved about how good the drinks are, and how much better they are compared to what they've had in bars and restaurants.

We've made non-alcoholic smoothies as well. They've turned out better than what we've ever bought in any smoothie place. It's great to be able to use only the freshest non-frozen fruit and other ingredients and to control how sweet they turn out (we never added any sugar or other sweeteners to our smoothies).

The unit appears to be fairly sturdy. After a couple of dozen occasions, with multiple rounds of drinks made each time, the unit's still going strong.

This bender is the one we all thought we were buying years ago when we bought the name brand market blenders. My family uses this Vita-mix at least 3x daily for smoothies and raw foods. To date I have never heard it bog down, no matter what we put in it. One gets the feeling that the vita-mix could grind and blend pool balls without ever breaking a sweat. I've been using a stick blender for several years now, with great success. Recently a friend told me how to make Almond Milk from scratch. Very easy, but I'd need a blender. It arrived, nostalgically familiar like one I had years ago. So I made the almond mikd which was so easy. And then I pureed some soups that I'd been using the stick blender to do. What a difference! I've not yet challenged the blender to it's full capacity, but it seems that it is up to the task of anything I'd want to use it for. I used my Duet Blender/Processor primarily for making protein shakes each morning, and it worked fine for about 2 years. Then the bearings in the base began to malfunction making the blender work very hard to turn the blade. So, I checked with Cuisinart about a replacement blade unit. The price of $15 didn't seem bad, but then they wanted $10 more to ship it to me. You can buy the whole unit for about $80 these days, so I can't justify spending 1/3rd of the cost of the whole unit for just that small item. I wore out a Cuisinart blender after a year on a regime involving a lot of protein shakes. Well before the year elapsed it had all but given up cutting the ice into manageable pieces, but I didn't bag it until it started spewing oil. For the last 6 months of its life, I drank a lot of shakes with ice boulders, and I thought that was normal. Well, no more. The KitchenAid turns ice cubes into ice dust, and it works so quickly it's kind of amazing. The consistency of the drinks is perfection. It does look good, as a lot of other reviewers point out, but most amazingly, it really is easier to clean. I don't know whether it's because the blades are built in, per se, or whether the profile of the blades with respect to the bottom of the pitcher is different, but stuff just doesn't stick under the blades like it does in other blenders. A little water and some soap in the container and presto! It's done.

The first thing I noticed was the incredibly loud noise of this blender. All blenders are somewhat noisy, but this one should be sold with ear plugs. It worked ok to make hummus and basic fruit smoothies, but the blade assembly started leaking after a couple of months of use. Small rubber gaskets in the assembly do not maintain a tight fit, and there is no way to fix this problem. Plus, not all parts of the blade assembly are rust-proof, and the design allows dirt to collect under the gaskets. This gunk is impossible to clean out fully. (The blade assembly cannot be taken apart for cleaning without breaking it.) The loud noise of the motor and poorly designed blade assembly result in a sub-standard product that may be ok if you only need to use it every once in a while, but if you plan to use it everyday, as I have used mine, you will be disappointed. Great blender! I can't believe how fast it perfectly and smoothly blended ice for my margarita in less than 5 sec. I got this to replace my older blender that took forever to blend ice and also had a warped lid from the dishwasher. I agree with other reviewers that the plastic parts seem a little cheap, esp the collar at the base of the glass container. I don't think this will be a problem and i plan to hand wash only; the lid seems to be designed better though but don't want to risk damaging it in the dishwasher. I bought this model b/c I was actually looking for a food processor, but the rubber seal was missing on my blender that attached to the mixer. We used the blender, just knew that it would leak (and it was a pain to drag out the heavy mixer every time). So I figured I was getting 2 products out of the deal. I knew the reviews were iffy, but they were several years old and it has a 3 yr warranty, right? Well, add mine to the list of short lived. Mine died after 7 months.

I did use the food processor a lot in February 09 when I bought it. Then it sat on the counter until summer when we used the blender to make the occassional milkshake or fruit smoothie, maybe every other week or so. It worked fine until I tried to use it yesterday. Had it loaded with fresh strawberries, sugar, juice... pressed on, the light came on, pressed blend, the light came on, no noise. Over and over, same thing. I suppose the motor just died between the last use and now for no particular reason? So now the big debate. Pay $10 and try to get a new one, try to take it back (I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond with a gift card from Christmas). Honestly, I don't see why I should have to pay shipping for something under warranty but that's another story - I can argue that with the "customer service". And who knows how long it will take. And do I even want another one knowing it has a short life?

I will say that while I had it, I liked it as other people did. Large clear containers held lots of ingredients. I was making hot chocolate mix in the food processor and it blended beautifully. Also used it to chop cookies for rum balls and for other jobs I used to use my Salad Shooter for. Now I'll have to decide whether to go back to the Salad shooter or get another food processor.

A few things I didn't like about the blender was mentioned in other reviews. It didn't seem to "settle" easily so you really had to push things down (ie fresh fruits, etc). Also, since the top is so wide and the pour spout is not deep, you had to pour slowly and guide it with a spoon or it'd plop everywhere but into the cup. Definitely improvements that can be made.

It is a shame that we come to these sites for reviews of products. It seems that most break in less than a year despite the warranty (if the warranty is more than a year that's a miracle in and of itself!). Sadly, Corporate America seems to think we are a throw away society when that's NOT the case for most of us. I would love to keep an item for many years. Hmmmm, maybe I should go searching the shelves of the Goodwill. For a couple bucks, I may find a blender that still works..... I am the first to admit that I am not typically a picky person, and always give the benefit of the doubt in reviews of products.

We bought this blender last night so that we could make smoothies while on the hCG diet. Used it this morning for the first time and can't wait to return it!

All we were trying to do was blend up a cut up peach, and it took upwards of 5 min. to complete the blending process. We had to stop blending multiple times to mix it up with a spoon. Even trying the "pulse" method which is recommended did not work effectively.

What can I say other than it does an excellent job blending everything, fully grinding ice cubes and wonderfully pureeing fruits.
