I got this blender as a gift. I opened it and put some frozen fruits in it to make a smoothie and plugged it in. I have only had this blender now for a year and the polycarbonate carafe has been cracked for over half the time I owned it. Very disappointing. I bought this item from Williams Sonoma and they will take it back however, because they no longer sell this item in the store they are only willing to give me the last known price in the store which of course was on sale. I finally had to replace my ancient Oster blender and I shopped for a long time. This model didn't have much in the way of comments but it's a great little machine. I bought this thing ten years ago. I use it on a regular basis to make protein shakes (frozen fruit and ice cubes included). I take it to work sometimes, and, on one occasion I took it on a plane with me. Well, not on the plane, rather inside the plane. In a small bag, wrapped in a towel. When I arrived at my destination I opened the bag and found the plastic bottom open and the motor sticking out. I closed it back together, put some tape over it, and turned it on. This was four years ago. It's still working. What can I say? We've had this for about six months and we love it. We use it a lot - mainly for smoothies and blended fruit drinks, but we've also made iced coffee, which involves crushing ice, and I frequently blend pancake batter to make it smoother. We also have some of the accessories and have used them to make milkshakes, crush nuts and do some basic food processing. We have had NO problems with this item during its frequent use; it works well, cleans up very easily, and looks fabulous on the benchtop! We stored it away for a while but I missed it being out so now it's out permanently and is a great addition to the kitchen.
